Carse Antiques has dated this piece to the Georgian era.
The drawer configuration is unusual being 1 over 2 over 2. The drawers are all oak lined with original early type brass locks. The oval brass handles are correct contemporary period handles that we have put back in the original holes. The bureau has a very nice fitted interior with drawers and pigeon holes.

The top section has beautiful long fielded panels to the doors and has all the original catches and locks. The interior shelves are all solid oak with a moulded red walnut front edge and it has three drawers to the base. Both the top and bottom sections have exact matching original solid oak back boards.

The piece is a very nice mellow colour with beautiful graining to the wood, good patination and waxed finish.
There are one or two minor old restorations but nothing that detracts from this lovely piece of furniture.
