Mersham Manor Antiques has dated this piece to the Georgian era.
An elegant early George III mahogany bureau.
c1760.
Solid mahogany to the front of the bureau, with pine sides.
With "secret" slide compartments flanking the door, in the form of fluted columns. A green patinated leather inset writing surface.

Over three long, ovolo moulded graduating drawers, having brass swan-neck handles and iron locks, with raised brass escutcheons.
Standing on bracket feet.
Nice figuring to the mahogany. Good patination and colour.

The condition is excellent antique condition, having general expected signs of age and use. Replaced brass handles, which are stylistically and age correct for the bureau. Original backboards, having historical applied hessian strips, because of minor shrinkage to the backboards, very typical.

Very solid, sturdy and strong.
The dimensions are taken at highest, widest and deepest points.
Height-99cm. Height to the underside of the fall-front desk-68cm.
Width-90cm. Taken at the base.
Depth-49cm. Taken at the base.
