Description

An elegant, attractive and most useful late 18th century George III BUREAU BOOKCASE in excellent original condition.

Of compact size, the upper bookcase section features a well-drawn cornice and pretty shaped glazing bars to the doors, which open to reveal adjustable shelves within.

Below is the superb 'panelled' and inlaid "cylinder" fall, which swivels upwards to reveal the fitted "bureau" section within and a sliding writing surface with small drawers & pigeonholes.

Further below are two panelled doors which open to reveal adjustable shelves and it is supported on typical slender Hepplewhite bracket feet. A lovely Drawing Room cabinet. 7ft 6ins tall; 40ins wide (228 x 101cms)
