18th Century Mahogany Secretaire Bookcase

Description

A very genuine mahogany secretaire bookcase made around 1760 by a quality cabinet maker.

The glazed top section definitely belongs to the bottom which is not always the case. This may be proved by the matching back boards (see photos).

The colour is original and can only be enhanced with more polishing.

All the drawers run smoothly, full working locks with original keys. Adjustable shelves to the top section and an interesting secretaire fitment.

One small glass pane with a crack (pictured) but I hesitate to have this repaired as it would then not be totally original. All the rest of the glass is beautiful 18th century.
