Chest of Drawers Bureau Secretaire George IV Satinwood Fine Quality C1820

Here we have a stunning George IV Satinwood secretaire chest of drawers c1820. As you can see the chest has wonderful colour and patina. This secretaire is of exhibition quality and there has been no expense spared in its construction. The sides are solid Satinwood as are the small drawer linings and large drawer fronts. Satinwood was incredibly expensive at this time and only used in the most important furniture. The top has a beautiful crossbanded border in Coromandel or Macasser Ebony with decorative corners. All the drawers are cockbeaded and have their original turned Ebony handles and Mahogany lined drawers. There is beautiful inlaid decoration to the secretaire drawer again in Coromandel. The chest is in two parts and was made like this and not split at a later date. There is a shaped apron and lovely splayed bracket feet. The drawer front drops to reveal a most breathtaking interior. The inside of the drawer front is finished with a crossbanded Coromandel border and what appears to be the original leather. There is an arrangement of six solid Satinwood small drawers each retaining their original Ivory handles. The central drawer is made from solid Coromandel as is the secret drawer above. The pigeon hole gallery is also made from solid Coromandel and has Ivory inlaid decoration. The central door has an original working lock and key as does the secretaire drawer. A stunning unique fine quality period chest in fantastic retail condition made from prized Satinwood ready for your home. The chest comes with great provenance from a famous Norfolk family which will be given to the next owner. The dimensions are approx 43 inches wide 41 high and 20 deep.
