Victorian Flame Mahogany Cylinder Bureau Desk

19th century
Description

Victorian flame mahogany cylinder bureau desk or writing table. This is a lovely bureau (quite rare), full of age, charm and character. No loose joints and the drawers slide freely (some marks inside as is to be expected). Good shape and fantastic proportions. There are 5 softwood drawers concealed within the cupboard doors. Early patinated and worn Rexine writing surface. Great colour and matched flame mahogany veneers.

As with all genuine antique furniture, you can expect to see some historic knocks, marks, wear, imperfections, cracks, scratches, repairs and/or alterations. There are no keys and the locks are consequently untested. There are some historic extinct woodworm holes, that we have treated for good measure. The catch on the small central door is a little tired.

Overall maximum dimensions: 116cm wide, 59cm deep (92cm with writing surface pulled out), 110.5cm high (73cm high writing surface).

Please check dimensions before purchasing.

We can organise competitive UK and Worldwide courier delivery, please contact us for a quotation.

Item reference WNA-3921V91.

Archival Detail
Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
