Driscolls Antiques Ltd has dated this piece to the 1900s.
This fine example of Edwardian Antique Furniture dates from ca. 1900 and is of unusual small proportions. The Bureau bookcase has a moulded cornice above two astragal glazed doors with key and working lock.
The interior has several pigeon holes and two small drawers with brass handles. The lower section has four graduating drawers, again with satinwood cross banding along with boxwood and ebony string inlay. The brass round decorative handles finish the drawer fronts perfectly. This antique bookcase stands on shaped Ogee bracket feet, splits into two sections for ease of removal and has aged to a warm shade of mahogany with a striking grain, good patina, is in very good condition and has been beautifully cleaned using a traditional form of wax finishing.
