Driscolls Antiques Ltd has dated this piece to the 1800s.
It has a moulded fall front and the interior is fitted with a central figured cupboard door with key with working lock, flanked by six small drawers with brass handles and six pigeon holes. The lower section has four graduating cock beaded drawers with pierced brass handles. This lovely bureau stands on shaped bracket feet and benefits from the original backboards. The mahogany has aged to a warm medium shade with a striking grain, good patina, is in very good condition and has been beautifully cleaned using a traditional form of wax finishing.
