Small Georgian Mahogany Ladies Bureau Bookcase

18th century
Description

Small Georgian mahogany ladies bureau bookcase. This item has lovely small proportions, and is full of age, charm and character. Lovely crook shouldered legs with pad feet.....this is a very rare item and so pretty. Solid with no loose joints and all of the oak lined drawers slide freely. Great age and patina (not over restored). Later handles, but all are in keeping and look right. No significant woodworm.

As with all genuine antique furniture, you can expect to see some historic knocks, marks, wear, imperfections, cracks, scratches, repairs and/or alterations. Key to the glazed doors only and the other locks are untested. There are some stains inside the drawers as is to be expected. The bookcase top is possibly later than the bureau (still 19th Century) and constructed to suit ...this is not a marriage and the way most genuine bureau bookcases came into being.

Overall maximum dimensions: 63.5cm wide, 49cm deep, 180cm high (72cm high writing surface).

Please check dimensions before purchasing.

We can organise competitive UK and Worldwide courier delivery, please contact us for a quotation.

Item reference WNA-3468G49.

Archival Detail
Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
