Mahogany Secretaire Bookcase of Good Colour

A late 18thc/early 19thc mahogany secretaire bookcase of good patina (colour).

This bookcase comprises of a moulded cornice to the top with an inlaid frieze consisting of fine quality mahogany, boxwood & Kingwood.

This leads down to two glazed doors with arched astragals in the Gothic style opening up to three adjustable shelves.

The sides of the piece are mahogany and the back is of a pine panelled construction.

The lower section has a fully fitted secretaire drawer consisting of ten oak lined drawers, the drawer fronts being of mahogany with boxwood stringing.

There is also a central door of mahogany with boxwood stringing with an oval inlaid design with four pigeon hole compartments, two to each side of the door - inside this door a further small drawer can be found.

The writing fall is lined with baize and is in good condition and below this are three long graduated drawers.

The drawer fronts are of fine quality plum pudding mahogany with boxwood stringing and Kingwood cross banding surrounded by a mahogany cock bead.

The drawers are oak lined and have later brass handles which are in keeping with the age of the piece.

The piece has four bracket feet to the base, the front two being inlaid.

This secretaire bookcase is in good original condition, of sound construction and can go straight into a home.
