Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Georgian period chest of drawers originates from circa 1750 and follows a classic English country house design. The construction employs walnut timber with oak and brass elements, finished with a warm brown colour polish that highlights the wood grain. Three small top drawers sit above three full-width graduated drawers below, all fitted with line inlaid fronts and later brass handles featuring shaped backplates and key escutcheons. The case rests upon bracket feet beneath a moulded top. Practical storage capacity makes this piece suitable for use in a bedroom, landing, or living space to hold folded clothing, linens, or household items. Measuring Height 99 cm, Width 97 cm, and Depth 53 cm, it offers substantial surface area on top for lamps, photographs, or decorative objects while occupying a manageable floor footprint against a wall.

FAQs

Georgian walnut furniture from the early 18th century is characterised by balanced architectural proportions, fine figure veneers, feather banding inlay, and functional drawer configurations.

These pieces typically feature walnut face veneers over softwood or oak carcasses, with brass drop handles, escutcheons, and secondary pine or oak drawer linings.

Authentic pieces display hand-cut dovetail joints, period-correct secondary timber, natural age-related timber shrinkage, and classic bracket feet or bun feet.

Position the piece against neutral walls to highlight the walnut grain, styling the top surface with simple ceramic vessels or contemporary lamps to contrast traditional woodwork.

Dust regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply clear beeswax polish occasionally, keeping the item away from direct sunlight and central heating radiators to prevent timber movement.
