Superb Quality Antique Georgian Mahogany Bureau.

This superb Quality Antique Georgian Bureau dates from ca 1780 and is made from the finest quality mahogany timbers. This stunning piece has a figured Mahogany moulded front fall with a key and working lock. The interior comprises a tooled leather writing insert and Six small oak lined drawers with brass handles. There is also a central cupboard door again with a key and working lock. It has stunning rosewood crossbanding with decorative string inlay and figured flamed Mahogany fronts. The interior of the central cupboard contains a hidden button that allows access to the secret compartments. The lower section has 4 graduating cock beaded drawers with oval decorative brass handles and working locks. This superb piece stands on shaped bracket feet and the mahogany has aged to a lovely warm shade with a striking grain, good patina, is in very good condition and has been beautifully cleaned using a traditional form of wax finishing.
