Athey Antiques has dated this piece to the 1750s.
the bureau base, again with reeded canted columns and fall front enclosing a beautifully fitted interior of drawers and pigeon holes including several 'secret' compartments over two short and three long drawers, all oak lined with brass handles and standing on ogee feet.
this very handsome bureau cabinet has a wonderful colour and patina which only comes with years of polishing, it does of course have normal signs of wear commensurate with age and use but overall it is in very good condition and is not done justice by the photographs.
