Quality George III Oak Antique Bureau.

19th century
Description

Quality George III Oak Antique Bureau.

Dating from around 1790 this George III antique oak bureau is a quality example of its type. It has a moulded fall front with key and working lock. Once opened it displays six small oak lined drawers with brass pull handles and six pigeon holes. It also has a small central cupboard door with key and working lock flanked by two unusual secret pull out slides with half columnar designed decorative fronts. The lower section of the bureau has four oak lined graduating cock beaded drawers with original brass swan neck handles and brass key escutcheons. The piece stands on shaped bracket feet, still retains the original back boards and oozes an overall sense of quality being constructed from the finest oak timbers. It is a lovely warm medium shade of oak with a striking grain, good patina, is in very good condition and has been beautifully cleaned using a traditional form of wax finishing.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
