Bureau Desk George III Mahogany C1790

Here we have a stunning George III Mahogany bureau. As you can see the bureau has fantastic colour and patina. The fall front has a beautiful grain and original escutcheon working lock and key. This opens to reveal a stunning fitted interior. There are eight pigeon holes with a small cupboard in the middle. The cupboard door has the most wonderful Sheraton style inlay. There is stringing to the edge with corner fan detail and urn and shell detail to the centre. The drawers have their original handles and again strung detail. There is a stepped shaped shelf and another row of drawers which are all Oak lined. There is a red baize writing or working surface. There are four graduated drawers which again retain their original plate handles and are all Oak lined including the bases. The sides of this bureau are solid Mahogany and the bureau sits on delicious splayed bracket feet with a shaped and inlaid frieze between. A stunning bureau of excellent proportions and of the highest quality and in super retail condition. The dimensions are approx 40 inches wide 44 high and 20 deep.
