18th Century French Walnut Secretaire Marble Top Chest

Description

It is rare to find one of these French chests fitted with the secretaire drawer at the top.

The choice of the walnut veneer is just simply superb .

The drawer fronts have their original handles and escutchons. The drawer fronts of the fitted interior depict an elephant with cargo.

The marble top is in perfect order with no chips or cracks but has some feint ring marks which could be removed but it doesn't deter from the overall beauty of this piece.

All the drawer linings are made from solid oak with dovetail joints.

The chest measures 24 ins deep, 51 ins wide and is 38 ins high.

The condition overall for a piece of furniture over 200 years old is very good , but it has some signs of use as should be expected.
