Antique Regency Mahogany Bureau C1800 W6546/15.8

Lovely antique regency mahogany bureau and dating from around 1800. It has a panelled fall front with ivory escutcheon which opens to reveal a walnut interior with small central door cross banded in mahogany and to either side a long drawer inlaid with mahogany stringing and small original mahogany knob handles and above three arched pigeon holes. It has a brown faux leather writing surface which was replaced some time ago. To the base there are four long graduating drawers all of which are pine lined with ivory escutcheons and brass handles. The base of each drawer is pasted with newsprint from the carlisle journal and dating july 1869. This can of course be removed however we feel it is now part of the bureau's history and for the sake of authenticity we have left it in place. It stands on bracket feet.

Measures: 42" high X 30" desk height X 19" deep X 44" wide

In very good condition with a lovely deep colour and patination to the mahogany oozing all the charm and character of the period.
