Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This French Provincial chest of drawers originates from 1920. Constructed from solid oak, the piece has been stripped, bleached, and given a light sanding to achieve a light oak finish. Three horizontal drawers are set into the front, each fitted with original brass bail handles and detailed with carved shell motifs, central cartouches, and key escutcheons. The structure includes solid panelled sides and an ornate carved apron along the base. The cabinet stands on cabriole legs terminating in classic escargot feet. Practical proportions make the chest suitable for placement in a bedroom, landing, or living space to provide surface display and concealed storage. The dimensions measure 86 cm high, 110 cm wide, and 52 cm deep.

FAQs

Originating in 18th-century French regional workshops, these chests feature subtle curves, cabriole legs, and ornate carved detailing that adapt Parisian court designs for provincial homes.

Traditional pieces feature solid European oak timber constructed with hand-dovetailed drawer joints, carved aprons, cast brass keyhole escutcheons, and swing bail handles.

Authentic period examples exhibit hand-planed timber backboards, wooden peg joinery, heavy cast hardware, and tool marks on interior drawer linings.

Pair stripped or bleached raw wood surfaces with neutral linen textiles, contemporary artwork, or stone ceramics to introduce tactile texture to minimalist and rustic schemes.

Apply a clear, neutral beeswax sparingly to protect unsealed oak timber from moisture, keep away from direct heat sources, and wipe spills immediately using a dry cloth.
