This Queen Anne style combination wardrobe originates from the 1920s and comes from the English cabinet makers Waring & Gillow. The piece uses warm brown burr walnut veneer with solid mahogany sides, complemented by brass drop handles. The triple arched cornice sits above arch top doors featuring symmetrical panels within raised mouldings, crossbanded surrounds, and feather banding, all raised on short cabriole legs with scroll detail and pad feet. Measuring 203 cm high, 157.5 cm wide, and 53.5 cm deep, this large storage furniture provides practical wardrobe space for a bedroom or dressing room. The interior contains hanging capacity, shelving, and drawers behind the three lockable doors. Cleaned and waxed, the surface shows an even polished tone suitable for daily use in a traditional home setting.

Queen Anne revival furniture, popularised in the early twentieth century, draws inspiration from eighteenth-century designs. Key characteristics include double-domed or arched cornices, book-matched walnut veneers, delicate brass fittings, and cabriole legs terminating in pad or shell feet.

Wardrobes from this era typically feature a solid hardwood or softwood carcass covered in decorative burr walnut or figurative walnut veneers. Internal components often utilise oak or mahogany, complemented by solid brass drop handles and hinges.

Authentic pieces by Waring & Gillow usually feature a stamped metal makers plate or a clear impression stamped directly into the upper edge of a drawer or internal door frame, accompanied by superior drawer joinery and high-grade veneer selection.

A substantial walnut wardrobe acts as a focal point in a master bedroom or dressing room. To balance its visual weight, pair it with neutral wall colours, natural linen drapery, and contemporary minimalist lighting.

Dust the surfaces regularly using a clean, soft microfibre cloth. Apply a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year, buffing gently along the grain, while avoiding direct sunlight and proximity to radiators to prevent veneer drying or bleaching.
