This Queen Anne Revival triple wardrobe dates from around 1920 and is made from warm brown burr walnut with bookmatched panels, crossbanded edges, and a moulded serpentine-shaped top. The piece displays a carved top cresting, original brass handles, carved shoulders on short cabriole legs, and a central carved cartouche on the middle door. The wardrobe measures 203 cm high, 188 cm wide, and 53.5 cm deep. Inside, the left and central compartments contain a shelf with a hanging rail underneath, while the right compartment holds two shelves, a slide tray, and two drawers. The wardrobe separates into six pieces for transport and stands on a flat plinth above the carved legs. It is suitable for storage in a bedroom or dressing room.

During the 1920s, British cabinetmakers frequently referenced 18th-century Queen Anne and George I design features, utilising figured burr walnut veneers, arched top cornices, and carved cabriole legs to create spacious storage solutions.

These pieces typically feature a solid hardwood framework, such as pine or mahogany, overlaid with carefully cut and book-matched burr walnut veneers, complimented by solid walnut carved mouldings and cast brass handles or escutcheons.

Authentic period examples demonstrate hand-finished dovetail joinery on internal drawers, natural age-related patination on brass hardware, cut veneer seams with consistent shrinkage lines, and original back panels held by period screws or nails.

A substantial triple armoire works well as a focal piece in a spacious principal bedroom or dedicated dressing area, anchored against a neutral wall to highlight the rich natural figure of the wood grain.

Keep the timber away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent shrinkage and bleaching. Clean using a soft microfibre cloth and apply a quality beeswax polish twice yearly along the direction of the grain.
