Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This late Victorian walnut three-seater bench stands in a Gothic Revival style, exhibiting a warm brown timber finish across its substantial frame. The open-arched backrest incorporates six spindle balustrades, complemented by low curved armrests, eight turned legs joined by stretchers, and three individual push-out seat panels upholstered in a grey patterned fabric with a fine dark weave. The framework displays crisp linear mouldings along the top rails and subtle turned finials atop the vertical supports. Measuring 188 cm in width by 55 cm in depth with a height of 96 cm, this seating piece provides generous accommodation for a hallway, boot room, or large reception area in a contemporary residence. The sturdy construction and comfortable padded seats ensure daily utility while maintaining traditional character.

A Victorian hall bench is a wooden seating structure designed during the nineteenth century, traditionally placed in entryways or hallways to accommodate visitors and facilitate changing footwear.

Victorian benches were primarily constructed using dense hardwoods such as walnut, mahogany, or oak, often featuring hand-carved decorative elements and woven or upholstered seats.

Authentic late Victorian pieces display period-specific joinery such as hand-cut mortise and tenon joints, natural age patina on walnut wood, and decorative details like turned spindles or Gothic arch backrests.

A Victorian bench works well in a hallway, entryway, or wide corridor paired with neutral wall treatments, contemporary lighting, and textured cushions to create functional seating.

Maintain walnut furniture by regularly dusting with a soft cloth and applying a high-grade beeswax polish along the grain, while avoiding direct heat sources and excessive moisture.
