Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This freestanding 1920s British oak wardrobe stands 200 cm high, 125.5 cm wide, and 51 cm deep. The warm brown timber displays quarter-sawn oak grain beneath a waxed finish. A moulded cornice surmounts the upper section, which contains a central mirrored door flanked by two side panels with shaped arches at the top. The central door holds an original metal handle and lock escutcheon. Below these doors, the base incorporates a wide, deep drawer fitted with two drop handles and a curved apron running between square tapered legs. Inside, a hanging rail provides storage space for garments. In a modern interior, the wardrobe functions as a bedroom storage piece for hanging clothing and stowing linens in the lower drawer. The natural wood grain and traditional hardware suit period properties and country house aesthetics alike. The entire structure dismantles into five separate components to facilitate transport and placement within a home.

Oak wardrobes from the 1920s typically exhibit streamlined panel construction, geometric arched mouldings, central mirror inserts, and integrated lower drawers designed for practical domestic storage.

These pieces were primarily crafted from solid oak or quarter-sawn oak veneers, fitted with silvered glass mirror plates and brass or iron drop-handle hardware.

Authentic period examples feature hand-cut or machine dovetail jointing on drawers, original lock mechanisms, panelled backboards, and distinct tiger-stripe grain patterns typical of quarter-sawn oak.

Position the piece as a focal storage element in a bedroom, contrasting the warm wood tones with neutral linen textiles, painted walls, and contemporary minimalist lighting.

Maintain the timber surface by dusting regularly with a microfibre cloth, applying beeswax polish along the grain twice yearly, and positioning the unit away from direct heat sources to prevent timber shrinkage.
