Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This small nineteenth-century French sofa stands on turned black wooden feet and features deep button-tufted upholstery across the curved backrest and scroll arms, contrasted with a smooth seat cushion marked by a visible stain. The pale beige velvet cover exhibits varied signs of wear, including darkening and discoloration across the seating area, while a row of small decorative tacks finishes the lower front rail. Measuring 79 cm high, 121 cm wide, and 75 cm deep, the compact seating provides a practical option for a bedroom, dressing room, or a modest living space. Placement works well against a wall as an accent piece or paired with low occasional tables for reading and relaxation.

French 19th-century seating often features deep buttoning, low seats, softly rounded armrests, and exposed turned timber legs, engineered primarily for informal drawing rooms or private bedchambers.

These frames were typically constructed from solid beech or oak timber, layered with hand-tied coil springs, natural jute webbing, horsehair or coconut fibre stuffing, and finished in woven velvet or cotton upholstery.

Authentic period pieces feature hand-carved timber structural frames, hand-stitched undersides, hand-hammered upholstery tacks, and uneven hand-turned legs showing natural wood oxidisation.

A compact French sofa can be positioned in an entryway, placed at the foot of a bed, or paired with clean-lined modern furniture to create visual contrast within a neutral living space.

Gently vacuum the fabric using a soft brush attachment along the weave direction, keep the item away from direct sunlight to prevent fading, and consult a specialist for spot cleaning.
