Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Georgian style burr walnut chest of drawers operates as a versatile small storage piece in a bedroom, dressing room, or hallway. The warm brown timber displays a mellow honey colour with rich burr walnut grain on the cross-banded top and four graduated drawer fronts, complemented by herringbone inlay and chamfered fluted corners. The chest measures 79 cm high, 72 cm wide, and 50 cm deep, offering a compact footprint for living spaces. Additional details include a brushing slide beneath the top, brass swan neck handles with matching keyhole escutcheons, and shaped bracket feet supporting the bow-front body. The polished walnut surface highlights natural wood variations across the rectangular top and curved drawer structure. Homeowners place this traditional item against a wall to hold folded garments or linens while adding classic character to interior schemes.

FAQs

A bow-front chest of drawers features a convex curved front, a design popularised in the late 18th century to create a softer architectural profile than straight-fronted cabinetry.

These chests typically feature sliced burr walnut veneers applied over a solid timber carcase such as oak or pine, finished with brass drop handles and crossbanded feather inlay.

Authentic pieces generally display hand-cut dovetail joints, solid timber drawer linings showing age-related shrinkage, and natural wear patterns along the drawer runners.

A bow-front walnut chest functions well as a focal point in hallways or bedrooms, where the warm timber tones contrast against neutral walls and contemporary table lighting.

Dust regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply high-quality beeswax paste annually, keeping the piece away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent drying or fading.
