Robert Belcher Antiques has dated this Wrought Iron Fire Basket to the 1930s.
The front and back are finished with hammered and scrolled top bars, giving the basket a strong yet decorative medieval character.

The base incorporates extended bars at each corner, designed to rest on stone blocks or bricks, raising the basket from the hearth and allowing for easier cleaning beneath.
A particularly substantial and characterful piece, ideal for a large open fireplace or inglenook.
The fire basket is in very good condition. It has been painted black at some point; this finish would be expected to burn off with use.
