We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A bureau de dame is a specialised form of writing desk introduced in 18th-century France, specifically proportioned for personal correspondence and domestic accounting.

Desks from this era frequently utilised rosewood, kingwood, or walnut veneers over oak or pine carcass wood, ornamented with cast brass or bronze ormolu mounts and marquetry inlay.

Authentic period pieces display hand-sawn secondary timbers, hand-cut dovetail joints inside drawers, cast bronze mounts showing natural oxidisation, and hand-fitted marquetry veneers.

These compact desks function as accent pieces in hallways, dressing rooms, or dedicated reading nooks, providing surface utility and historical contrast against modern backgrounds.

Maintain the finish by dusting with a soft microfiber cloth and applying a microcrystalline or beeswax polish sparingly, while keeping the piece away from direct heat and sunlight.
