Brian MacDonald Antique Rugs & Carpets has dated this Antique Tribal Vanity Bag to the 1920s.
Maybe Rothko was inspired by the minimalistic gabbehs of the Lori-Bakhtiari tribes back then! The colours, like the wool, are amazing - saturated green, golden-yellow, aubergine, red, blue and ivory make up the face of the bag - the back in narrow, horizointal bands of the same colours used on the front.
