Portrait after Reynolds (Mannings 1210); standing whole-length slightly to right and resting her left arm on pedestal beside tree and drapery, looking to right; wearing loose light dress and robe, sash and her hair done high, with pearls; landscape beyond at left.

This rich impression is farmed under glass in a most attractive ebonised wooden frame with a gilt slip.

A mezzotint is a printmaking technique from the intaglio family that allows for subtly shaded tonal gradations without hatch lines.
