Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Edwardian mahogany wardrobes, produced between 1901 and 1910, often drawer upon eighteenth-century Neo-Classical and Sheraton Revival designs. They typically feature fine timber veneers, satinwood or boxwood marquetry, neo-classical swag inlays, integrated full-length mirrored doors, and organized interior compactum fittings.

These wardrobes were primarily constructed using dense mahogany, often layered with decorative veneers such as flame mahogany or satinwood for inlays. Secondary timbers inside drawers and back panels usually consist of pine or oak, fitted with bevelled mirror glass and brass hardware.

Authentic Edwardian pieces exhibit precise hand-cut dovetail drawer joints, original brass locks and drop handles, and age-consistent wear to the timber finish. Look for original backboards made from tongue-and-groove softwoods and bevelled mirror plates showing slight silvering oxidisation.

Balance the substantial visual weight and dark timber tones of a mahogany wardrobe by setting it against crisp, neutral walls such as off-white or light muted sage. Incorporating modern textiles, understated lighting, and lighter rug textures prevents the room from feeling visually heavy.

Clean the wood surfaces periodically using a soft dry cloth, applying a high-grade beeswax polish once or twice a year to nourish the timber. Avoid placing the wardrobe near direct heat sources or radiators to prevent veneer cracking, and clean mirror glass with non-abrasive cloths.
