Description:
This is a fine quality antique English Art Deco walnut wardrobe, featuring a bow-front design, an internal shelf and two hanging rails; it dates from around 1930 and remains in excellent original condition.
Notably, the curved doors retain their original vertical wooden handles. Meanwhile, the left-hand door still has its original sliding bolts, top and bottom, which secure the door when closed, and the right-hand door, likewise retains its original working lock and key. Inside, the Art Deco armoire offers a storage shelf in the top left corner, with a metal hanging rail below, retaining the original adjustable metal hooks (there are two fixed metal-hooks on the back wall also). Meanwhile, on the right-hand side is a larger metal hanging rail, ideal for taller clothing. Additionally, the antique walnut armoire retains its original door hinges and sliding door bracket. In addition, the antique walnut armoire rests on its original moulded, recessed plinth, while the back features solid original backboards. This Art Deco walnut wardrobe sits on its original elegant detachable plinth, which owners can remove for easy access into the home. Likewise, the main body of the Art Deco wardrobe dismantles into two sections, if required, for easy access up a staircase and into the bedroom.
Condition Report:
This is a fine quality antique English Art Deco two-door wardrobe in figured walnut, with a bow-front design, an internal shelf and two hanging rails, circa 1930, which remains in excellent original condition. However, there are nominal old use marks to the leading edges, but nothing significant given the age of the item. Our workshop has cleaned and hand French-polished the Art Deco bow-front wardrobe to a professional standard. Additionally, the wardrobe still retains its original interior, including the hanging rail and internal storage shelf, while the doors keep their original door latches, handles and working lock, with key. Also, the Art Deco walnut wardrobe retains its original backboards and stands on its original recessed plinth. Overall, the Art Deco armoire is a solidly built, ready-to-use item that has stood the test of time.
