1920s Revue Pocket Watch, Stonehaven

1900 - 1920
Description

1920s Revue pocket watch, Stonehaven.

The watch has a Revue stem-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement is signed Limit No 2, Limit was an importing company based in Oldham, UK.

The watch measures 54mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is nickel and it is in lovely condition. Screw-on bezel and case back, a nice sign of quality.

The glass lens has some marking and a chip underneath the thick glass but is very acceptable for an antique watch.

The dial is signed with the name of the original retailer, Thomas B Clark, Stonehaven. It is in lovely condition with original blued steel hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and outer minute track.

The watch comes in a new presentation box.

Credit / debit card purchases up to £300 can be made over the telephone on 01386 750238 or you can proceed via the 'Purchase Antique' button on each listing page. Alternatively, there is a Paypal payment link if you scroll down the page and we also accept bank transfers.

We are an on-line only business and do not have facilities for callers. Our offices are open from Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Open-face pocket watches from the 1920s feature a dial without a protective metal cover, allowing direct reading of the time through a glass crystal. During this era, Swiss mechanical movements were frequently cased and retailed by regional jewellers across Europe.

These timepieces typically consist of silver, nickel, or gold-filled cases housing enamel dials, tempered steel hands, and Swiss keyless-winding mechanical movements.

Authentic examples feature Swiss hallmark stamps or silver purity marks inside the case back, alongside crisp enamel dials, serial numbers on the movement, and period-correct typography.

Pocket watches can be worn attached to a waistcoat chain, carried in a jacket breast pocket, or displayed on a specialised desk stand or under a glass dome as a desktop accent.

Keep the timepiece in a dry environment away from strong magnetic fields, wind the crown gently without over-tightening, and have the internal movement serviced by a horologist every three to five years.
