Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A George IV rosewood chiffonier is a small 19th-century side cabinet or sideboard, typically featuring an upper shelf supported by turned columns, decorative brass gallery rails, and enclosed lower storage, produced during the reign of King George IV between 1820 and 1830.

These pieces were predominantly crafted using dense dark hardwoods such as rosewood or mahogany veneers, often incorporating pierced brass galleries, pleated silk or fabric door panels, mirrored back boards, and original brass hardware.

Authentic pieces from the 1820s demonstrate characteristic details such as dark figured rosewood veneers, brass pierced galleries, turned upright supports, hand-cut dovetail joints on internal drawers, and secondary timber linings made of oak or pine.

A chiffonier functions effectively as an alcove cabinet, hallway console, or dining room side cabinet, where the dark rich timber contrasts against modern neutral paint schemes, plaster walls, or contemporary artwork.

Clean timber surfaces using a dry microfibre cloth and apply a high-quality natural beeswax polish sparingly once or twice a year, keeping metal gallery fittings dry and free from harsh chemical polishes to retain historic patina.
