A charming and practical antique oak bureau writing desk with open bookcase, dating from approximately 1920.

Crafted in oak with a rich dark finish and attractive natural grain, this compact bureau combines a traditional writing desk with useful storage, making it ideal for both period and contemporary interiors.

The fall-front is decorated with a subtle carved motif and attractive decorative brass escutcheon. When opened, it forms a practical writing surface and reveals a fitted interior with a selection of small pigeonholes and compartments, originally designed for organising letters, stationery and documents.

Below the bureau are two spacious open shelves, providing additional storage for books, magazines or decorative items.

The bureau is in very good antique condition, solid and sturdy, with age-related marks, small scratches, colour variation and signs of previous use consistent with its age. These are part of the authentic character of an antique piece.
