M Lees and Sons has dated these Grand Tour Bronze Sculptures to the 19th Century.
. The sculptures for their tombs in the Cappelle Medicee (Medici Chapels) , located in the Sagresta Nuovo ,San Lorenzo , Florence, Italy , a monumental grand ducal mausoleum “Capella dei Principe”, were carved in marble by Michelangelo Buonarroti(1475-1564) between 1519 and 1524 .

The figures are depicted seated , Guiliano wearing Roman armour as a military leader alluding to his active life , whilst Lorenzo is shown in a pensive , brooding pose alluding to his thoughtfulness and diplomatic skills.

This pair of larger scale bronzes were created as souvenirs for wealthy tourists completing ‘The Grand Tour’ of the cultural and ancient sites and sights of classical and renaissance Europe, are in excellent original condition with a rich colour and patina with no wear or damage.
