Gillers Antiques Ltd has dated this Sevres Porcelain Dinner Plate to the 18th Century.
Examples of these celebrated Sèvres plates are today preserved in the collections of the Louvre Museum, France's principal national museum, the Palace of Versailles and other leading museums. As an authentic product of the Royal Sèvres Manufactory, this plate represents a genuine museum-quality example of eighteenth-century French porcelain.
The authentic underglaze cobalt-blue crossed "LL"s, accompanied on the left by the year letter "z", date the plate to 1777. The elegant Assiette à palmes form, designed by Jean-Claude Duplessis, is distinguished by its twelve-lobed basketweave border, graceful cobalt-blue scrollwork and finely painted floral bouquets executed in brilliant enamel colours.

Condition:
Wear to the gilding around the rim, entirely consistent with more than 250 years of careful use. The hand-painted decoration remains in excellent condition, with only light age-related surface wear to the white ground. A small later suspension hole has been drilled through the reverse border for wall display, as shown in the photographs. No chips, cracks, hairlines or restorations. The plate has been examined under UV light, and the accompanying photographs include UV images confirming the absence of restoration.
