A Victorian Walnut Davenport Desk of attractive compact proportions, beautifully figured throughout and retaining much of its original character. The sloping writing surface features a later painted writing panel, framed by finely engraved decoration to the surrounding walnut veneer. Above sits a stationery compartment with a hinged lid opening to reveal a fitted interior with divisions for letters and correspondence.The interior writing compartment opens to provide useful storage and incorporates a series of small pigeonholes beneath the slope. One side is fitted with a bank of drawers, whilst the opposing side features matching dummy drawers. Raised on shaped scroll supports terminating in castors.
