Regency Mahogany Bow Front Chest of Drawers
A handsome English Regency mahogany bow front chest of drawers, dating to the early 19th century, circa 1800–1820.
Of elegant proportion, the chest is formed with a well-shaped serpentine front and stands on splayed bracket feet. The mahogany is of particularly pleasing colour and figure, with a warm, well-aged tone across the drawer fronts and a nicely patinated top. The chest is fitted with two short over three long graduated drawers, retaining its original brass handles, escutcheons and working locks, all of which sit correctly and consistently across the piece.
The chest presents very well, having been cleaned and lightly attended to, and is ready for use. The drawers run smoothly and the structure is solid throughout, with no loose joints. Condition:
Structurally sound and in good overall order. There are some age-related marks and minor blemishes, all of which are well polished in and commensurate with use. The chest retains excellent colour and a pleasing, honest surface. Minor running repairs have been carried out historically. Drawers run well and the piece is ready for use.
