Description

Nineteenth century prayer-rugs of the Timuri Boruti tribe are incredibly rare. I have only ever had one other in over 40 years of dealing and collecting and this particular rug is illustrated in the 3rd editition of my book 'Tribal Rugs - Treasures of the Black Tent' on page 89.

These particular rugs which I relate to the Timuri Boruti tribe, all have a glowing, electric-blue ground with a scattering of early, totemic symbols and elaborate, brocaded skirts at each end.

This rug depicts an interesting 'tree' within the mihrab and just above this tree, on either side, are two symbols each with a small highlight of magenta silk!

This is an amazing find and a very collectible prayer-rug from the mid 19th century in very good condition.
