Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A torba is a small, shallow storage bag traditionally woven by nomadic Turkmen tribes of Central Asia to hold personal possessions inside a yurt. The front face, decorated with geometric octagonal gul motifs, was frequently preserved as a standalone decorative textile panel when the full bag was dismantled.

Traditional torba faces are hand-knotted using sheep wool on a wool warp and weft foundation, incorporating natural plant and mineral dyes such as madder root for deep red shades. The weaving features tight, fine asymmetrical knots that allow for dense, crisp geometric patterns.

Authentic 19th-century Tekke pieces typically feature soft wool, natural dye shade variations (abrash), and a palette dominated by crimson, deep red, and dark navy blue. They feature precise octagonal gulsoften arranged in a horizontal row of threealongside multi-band geometric borders and fringe detailing.

A tribal bag face can be mounted inside a shadow box frame or suspended as a textile wall hanging to create a focal point above a console table or desk. It can also be converted into a decorative accent cushion to introduce rich texture and colour to neutral seating.

Keep the textile away from direct sunlight and high humidity to prevent fibre degradation and colour fading. Cleaning should be limited to gentle vacuuming using a low-suction brush attachment through a protective mesh screen, with professional textile conservation recommended for deep cleaning or stabilisation.
