James Cohen Antique Carpets has dated this Antique Caucasian Seychour Runner to the 1870s.
The story goes that it is disrespectful to walk on Islamic green but I think the more likely explanation is that it is a very hard colour to make that is light fast. Most greens tend to fade as the yellow dye mixed with indigo loses its strength over time revealing the blue. So here is a triumph of dying with a rainbow of other colours including a fabulous gold border.
Non-original sides and scattered small repairs throughout.
