We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Authentic pieces generally exhibit period-accurate joinery, such as hand-cut dovetails, timber shrinkage consistent with age, and traditional hand-rubbed wax finishes. Examination of the locking mechanism, drawer linings, and backboards will reveal period-appropriate manufacturing techniques rather than modern mechanical fasteners.

Its vertical proportions make it ideal for smaller spaces, serving as an effective bedside table or an accent piece in a study or hallway. Pairing the rich timber grain with minimalist modern surroundings creates a balanced look that highlights the craftsmanship without overcrowding the room.

Preserve the timber by keeping the piece away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent veneer cracking and fading. Maintain the finish by occasionally applying a high-quality furniture wax and avoiding liquid polishes or silicone-based cleaners.

These cabinets are typically constructed from dense hardwoods such as walnut, mahogany, or rosewood, often veneered onto a secondary timber substrate like pine or oak. Traditional construction features hand-cut dovetail joints on the drawer boxes and a locking mechanism integrated into the side pilaster.

A Wellington chest is a tall, narrow set of drawers traditionally featuring a hinged locking stile on one side secured by a small padlock or key. Originating in the 19th century, this design gained popularity for its compact footprint and secure storage, often associated with the Duke of Wellington.
