We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

Kidney-shaped tables gained popularity during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, drawing inspiration from earlier Georgian and Regency furniture designs. They were crafted to fit comfortably into domestic spaces while providing a functional surface for grooming and writing.

These pieces typically feature a solid softwood or hardwood carcase veneered with highly figured burr walnut to create distinctive grain patterns. Traditional construction methods involve dovetail joints for the drawers and mortise and tenon joints for the frame.

Authentic pieces often exhibit hand-cut dovetailing, natural timber shrinkage, patination on brass hardware, and hand-applied finishes such as shellac or wax. Close inspection of the veneer reveals natural variations rather than uniform printed patterns.

Integrating an antique wooden vanity into a modern room creates textural contrast and warmth. Pair it with a minimalist stool or chair to balance the ornate wood grain and curved silhouette against clean architectural lines.

Maintain walnut furniture by keeping it away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent veneer cracking. Dust regularly with a soft, dry cloth and apply a microcrystalline wax periodically to nourish the wood surface.
