Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A torba is a small, shallow woven storage bag traditionally produced by nomadic Turkmen tribes of Central Asia. The Ersari and Beshir groups are renowned for crafting these trappings, which were hung inside yurts to store household goods and double as decorative furnishings during travel.

Turkmen torbas are constructed predominantly from hand-spun wool pile knotted onto a wool warp and weft foundation. Artisans utilized asymmetric knots and naturally dyed yarns, creating rich shades of madder red, dark indigo, and warm terracotta.

Authentic 19th-century pieces display soft hand-spun wool, subtle colour variations known as abrash, and complex geometric motifs such as ikat-inspired diamonds. Original bagfaces often show trace evidence of selvage loops or flat-weave backs where the bag was once joined.

A tribal torba can be custom mounted and framed as statement textile art, displayed on a narrow wall, or draped across a console table. Its deep tones and geometric pattern pair seamlessly with dark wood paneling, neutral plaster walls, or modern minimalist furniture.

Keep antique wool textiles away from direct sunlight to prevent natural dyes from fading. Vacuum gently using a suction attachment without a brush bar, and consult a specialist conservator for professional washing or mounting requirements.
