Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A torba is a small rectangular storage bag created by nomadic Turkmen tribes, specifically the Ersari sub-tribe of Central Asia. Traditionally woven by women for transport and yurt organisation, these pieces served practical storage needs while displaying tribal identity through distinct geometric patterns and symbolic motifs.

Turkmen trappings are typically hand-knotted using hand-spun wool for the pile, warp, and weft. Natural vegetable and mineral dyes provided the rich palette of deep terracottas, madder reds, dark indigos, and ivory highlights characteristic of nomadic weaving traditions.

Authentic Ersari weavings from this period feature characteristic design motifs such as repeating geometric guls or curled leaf patterns, asymmetrical wool knots, soft natural abrash variations in the dye, and flexible, hand-spun wool foundations rather than stiff modern synthetic materials.

A mounted tribal bag face functions as textile art, suitable for hanging in narrow wall spaces, foyers, or above sideboards. The rich tones and geometric structure complement modern minimalist, boho, or traditional gentlemans library interiors.

To preserve antique hand-knotted wool textiles, avoid exposure to direct sunlight and high moisture. Vacuum gently without a rotating brush attachment and consult a professional antique textile conservator for specialised cleaning or mounting options.
