Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This area rug is an antique Persian Kirman carpet from 1910, hand-woven from wool and cotton. The colour palette includes muted beige, blue, cream, and faded red, styled in an English Country House design vibe. The visual decoration displays a grid of detailed floral panels, cypress tree motifs, and a wide multi-band floral border. The surface exhibits a distressed and worn condition with a couple of small tears visible on the pile. The carpet measures 410 cm high, 325 cm wide, and 1 cm deep. It fits rooms appropriate for large area rugs and can be laid across spacious living rooms, grand dining rooms, or traditional drawing rooms. Traditional interior schemes accommodate this piece effectively as a floor covering beneath furniture groupings or as a central room anchor. The antique Persian aesthetic integrates well with classic timber floorboards or neutral stone flooring. Maintenance involves regular gentle vacuuming without a rotating brush to preserve the hand-woven wool and cotton structure. Professional cleaning suits the textile when deeper restoration is needed. The distressed finish brings historic character to both formal residential settings and eclectic study spaces.

FAQs

Originating from the city of Kerman in South-East Persia, Kirman carpets are recognised for their intricate botanical designs, fine hand-knotted weave, and distinctive colour palettes often featuring soft creams, blues, and muted red tones.

Traditional Kirman rugs are woven using high-grade wool pile on a durable cotton warp and weft foundation, constructed with asymmetrical Persian knots to achieve detailed floral motifs.

Authentic Kirman carpets typically display a flexible cotton foundation, dense knotting, elaborate floral or compartment panel designs, and a characteristic soft palette created using natural vegetable dyes.

A distressed Kirman carpet serves as a subtle neutral base in contemporary spaces, pairing effectively with minimalist furnishings, dark timber accents, or understated metal finishes.

Vacuum gently without a rotating brush attachment, rotate the carpet periodically to equalize wear, and address spills immediately by blotting with an absorbent cloth prior to professional cleaning.
