Description

I am always drawn to Ersari pieces, they have more variety of design perhaps than the other Turkoman pieces. This piece has a complex allover design which is quite hypnotic to regard. The eye switches between the white lattice and the red crossed interior, the latter creating the former. The two designs interact wonderfully picked out in soft tones of red, blue and white. The wool has a sheen to it which brings the piece alive too. I love the slight asymmetry of the overall design with one side being more eclipsed than the other by the side border.

The piece is in good condition.
