This is an antique fireplace set. An English, cast iron fire basket and mulling andirons, dating to the Georgian period, circa 1800.

During the Georgian period, hearth design evolved to improve heating efficiency, leading to raised iron baskets supported by andirons. Mulling andirons included upper brackets or cradles designed to hold vessels for warming spiced ale or wine by the fire.

Georgian hearth sets were predominantly forged from wrought iron or cast from heavy iron to withstand thermal stress. The components were joined using hand-poured rivets, forge welding, and fitted collars.
