Gilt and Gesso has dated this piece to the Regency era.
A fine quality late Regency to William 1V, English sliding Davenport desk circa 1830. A handsome flame mahogany example in complete and original condition, often attributed to Gillows.

A well proportioned Davenport desk with a sliding, original leather top writing slope which opens to reveal 4 Birds Eye maple drawers with 4 graduated drawers, a slide and pen drawer to one side, matched with dummy drawers to the other.

The well figured flame mahogany features ebony stringing and sits well upon original brass castors.
