Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This antique Persian Heriz carpet, dating from 1910, is hand-woven from wool and cotton. The rectangular textile displays an all-over large-scale design on a terracotta ground, set within compound geometric borders. The visible palette includes terracotta, deep navy, indigo, and cream, complemented by blue stylised botanical patterns, stylised palmettes, and geometric medallions. The surface shows an even low pile throughout, minimal top-flight repairs, and professionally secured ends and sides. Measuring 356 cm high by 272 cm wide and 1 cm deep, the carpet provides a substantial floor covering suited to principal living spaces or dining rooms in an English country house interior, arriving deep cleaned and floor ready.

FAQs

Heriz carpets originate from Northwest Iran, woven in villages around Mount Sabalan. They are recognized for their durable construction, geometric patterns, and bold angular motifs.

Heriz carpets are hand-knotted using a thick wool pile tied over a sturdy cotton warp and weft foundation. The wool is dyed using natural plant and mineral dyes, creating deep colour variations.

Authentic Heriz carpets exhibit asymmetrical hand-knotted weave structures on the reverse, subtle natural colour variations known as abrash, and stylized geometric floral patterns.

A Heriz carpet serves as an anchoring element under contemporary or timber furniture. Its terracotta and indigo tones complement neutral upholstery and natural wood finishes.

Vacuum regularly on a suction-only setting without a rotating brush to prevent fibre loss. Rotate the carpet annually to balance foot traffic and light exposure, and arrange professional cleaning when required.
