Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This fireside companion set originates from 1930 and follows the Rococo Revival style. Constructed from brass with a warm brass finish, the object displays intricate C-scrolls, foliate moulding, ornate handles, and a tiered base. The stand incorporates a central column with decorative turnings, supporting three tools comprising a shovel, poker, and tongs. Natural signs of age appear on the metal surfaces through minor variations in tone and texture. Practical dimensions measure 54 cm high by 31 cm wide and 28 cm deep, making it suitable for placement on a fireplace hearth to organise hearth accessories in a living room or study.

FAQs

Rococo style fireside companion sets feature asymmetrical scrollwork, foliate motifs, and ornate C-scroll decorations typical of 18th-century French design and 19th-century revival periods.

Traditional companion sets are crafted using cast or stamped brass, cast iron, or wrought iron, with components threaded or riveted together to ensure stability and heat resistance.

Authentic pieces display cast seams, threaded rod construction, natural surface oxidisation, and hand-chased decorative details rather than smooth modern machine moulding.

Position the set alongside a hearth or fireplace alcove to add warm metal tones and architectural interest to traditional or eclectic living spaces.

Dust regularly with a soft cloth and clean using a gentle brass polish to remove tarnish while preserving the natural patina in recessed decorative areas.
